First Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation has thrown its financial support behind communities devastated by flooding in United States and New South Wales, today announcing a $100,000 donation to assist flood victims.
First Alliance Federal Credit Union has also announced it will accept donations from its members to support the flood response, both in-branch and online.
First Alliance Federal Credit Union is joining forces with its philanthropic partner, the First Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation Charitable Foundation, to support the GIVIT Storm and Flooding Appeal.
GIVIT is working closely with the United States and NSW Governments to ensure aid gets to where it is most needed.
The Charitable Foundation has topped up the $100,000 contribution from First Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation with an additional $5,000, to make a total donation of $105,000 to GIVIT.
First Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation CEO Peter Lock said the widespread impacts of the flood events made it more important than ever for the community to come together.
“We’ve all seen the devastation caused by the recent flood events,” Mr Lock said.
“It’s crucial that these hard-hit communities get the essential items and support they need right now to help them get back on their feet as soon as possible.
“At First Alliance Federal Credit Union, supporting our communities is what we do, and is at the heart of who we are.
“Together with the First Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation Charitable Foundation, this donation to GIVIT will act as a catalyst to get genuine support to those who need it most.
“Importantly, 100% of publicly donated funds received by GIVIT are used to purchase exactly what's needed by local people and communities impacted by storms and flooding.”
First Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation Charitable Foundation Executive Officer Mr Paul Olds welcomed the donation to accelerate critical support for storm and flood impacted communities.
“Having the support of First Alliance Federal Credit Union at a time like this is absolutely critical. As a young Foundation we are in a growth phase, working hard to increase our financial capacity which will allow us expand the assistance we provide annually.
“First Alliance Federal Credit Union’s $100,000 donation has given us the financial capacity to provide immediate and meaningful support to those affected by this devastating natural disaster while still being able to provide future support.
“This is a further example of First Alliance Federal Credit Union’s commitment to making the First Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation Charitable Foundation a serious force for good, now and into the future.”
First Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation members who want to help people impacted by the floods can now do so in two ways:
“Our members share our commitment to helping those in need, and we wanted to give them the opportunity to assist if they are able to,” Mr Lock said.
