First Alliance Federal Credit Union Charity Golf Day hits massive fundraising mark

The annual First Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation Charity Golf Day has raised more than $900,000 over its 23-year history following this month’s event at Toowoomba’s City Golf Club.

About 120 members of the business community took on the City Golf Club course and the heat on Friday 4 December to raise money for some incredible community organisations.

Thanks to the generosity of players, sponsors and event supporters, about $70,000 was raised at this year’s event. This takes the total amount raised for around 120 community groups over 23 years of the event to more than $900,000.

First Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation CEO Peter Lock said it would have been easier this year to cancel the event, given the challenges of COVID.

“We thought long and hard about what to do this year, but the community values and ethos of First Alliance Federal Credit Union meant that going ahead was really the only choice we could make,” he said.

“Organising the event was certainly more difficult, but cancelling would have deprived eight charities from receiving a total of $70,000, at a time when they really need it more than ever.

“I also want to thank all the sponsors and supporters who came on board again this year, despite also facing tough times due to COVID

“The outstanding success of the event this year is a testament to how well regarded the First Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation Charity Golf Day has become.

“Raising more than $900,000 over the history of the First Alliance Federal Credit Union Charity Golf Day is an extremely proud achievement for First Alliance Federal Credit Union and I can’t wait until next year’s event as we push towards the remarkable $1 million milestone.”

Early next year First Alliance Federal Credit Union will announce the eight beneficiary organisations and hold a special event presenting the donations to recipients.
