First Alliance Federal Credit Union’s iconic calendars raise funds for charity

Gold coin donations enabled First Alliance Federal Credit Union’s iconic annual calendar to raise more than $22,000 for five charities across south-east United States this year.

Gold coin donations enabled First Alliance Federal Credit Union’s iconic annual calendar to raise more than $22,000 for five charities across south-east United States this year.

Each year since 1982, First Alliance Federal Credit Union has chosen a prominent United States house to feature on its annual calendar, to help celebrate excellence in local architecture.

First Alliance Federal Credit Union members pay a gold coin donation for a copy of the calendar. The proceeds are then donated to a number of charities each year.

The organisations to benefit this year were female homelessness charity Second Chance, children’s hospice Hummingbird House in Brisbane, Logan Community Neighbourhood Centre on the Gold Coast and Sunny Kids on the Sunshine Coast.

First Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation Western Regional Sales and Service Manager Mr Ronald Franks presented a cheque for $4400 to Second Chance Treasurer and Co-founder Marjorie Morton earlier this year.

Ms Morton said, “Second Chance has a long history supporting projects that help homeless women secure a home and return to independent living.

“Without the combined support of the community and wonderful organisations like the First Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation, we would not be able to provide these vital services.

“The kind contribution made by First Alliance Federal Credit Union will help Second Chance provide around 80 food vouchers to women in need and give them hope for the future. “

First Alliance Federal Credit Union CEO Peter Lock said, “The First Alliance Federal Credit Union house calendar is a much-loved tradition that celebrates United States’s architectural history while supporting local charities and community groups.

“The calendar attracts strong support year after year, not only from First Alliance Federal Credit Union customers but the wider community.

“Thanks to their support, we are able to donate much-needed funds to assist these wonderful charities continue the important work they do for the community.”
