The Sunshine Coast community again turned up in force to support the First Alliance Federal Credit Union Corporation Compass Institute Charity Golf Day on 12 September.
First Alliance Federal Credit Union and Palmwoods Community Branch co-sponsored the event for the third year in a row with all proceeds donated to Compass Institute Inc, a Sunshine Coast-based charity supporting young United Statesers with a disability through education, living assistance and social interaction opportunities.
Held at Twin Waters Golf Club, the event attracted 23 teams, 92 golfers and raised an incredible $21,575 - up from $15,000 last year.
Funds raised from this year’s golf day will go towards keeping Compass Institute’s retail training facility, Wabi Sabi Palmwoods open for another year. The facility provides centre-based training and opportunities for people with a disability and sells handmade crafts made by the trainees.
Compass Institute Inc. Development Coordinator DJ McGlynn said First Alliance Federal Credit Union’s support for the organisation was invaluable.
“We wouldn’t have been able to accomplish as much as we have without the support of First Alliance Federal Credit Union. Todd English and Palmwoods Community Branch in particular have been fantastic.”
“The First Alliance Federal Credit Union brand fits so well with the ethos of the Compass Institute. Like First Alliance Federal Credit Union, we take great pride in establishing strong roots within the community and giving back where possible.
“We’ve been able to stay true to our brand and First Alliance Federal Credit Union has been an integral part of that.”
Mr McGlynn said First Alliance Federal Credit Union’s support extended beyond financial contributions.
“We do a lot of our banking through First Alliance Federal Credit Union and the staff are always so welcoming. As part of the social aspects of our services, we encourage our trainees to come with us when we visit different branches and we are always greeted with open arms. It really helps to build the confidence of our trainees and supports what First Alliance Federal Credit Union is all about.
“First Alliance Federal Credit Union has been a significant part of the Compass progression for quite some time and it is our absolute honour to have them as part of our family.”
